The Ostrobothnia Events Calendar is a collaboration between the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia, KulturÖsterbotten, and the Vaasa Region (City of Vaasa, VASEK, and Visit Vaasa).

When you add an event, it gains visibility both in the Ostrobothnia Events Calendar, the Vaasa Region Event Calendar, and in several municipalities' own calendars. This way, events gain wide exposure, both locally and across the region.

The Ostrobothnia Events Calendar has over 1,400 registered organizers, and approximately 2,000 events are published each year.

Search for events

Choose "Custom" in the time field and enter the date(s) you want to search for in the calendar.

Language versions

No, you should not do that. Instead, create an event, and as a first step, choose the languages you want to use for the event. For example, tick Finnish and Swedish, and separate text fields for Finnish and Swedish will appear. Time, place, and other such details only need to be filled in once. If you save different language versions as separate events, your event will appear in the wrong language in the calendar's various language versions.

My event is not published

Have you just registered? In that case, you may not have been approved as an organizer or a user yet. The first event you save must also be approved separately by a moderator, but once that’s done, all your following events will be published directly without additional moderator approval. If you’re not approved within a week or so, please contact portal(at)obotnia.fi for assistance.

Another reason might be that you have failed to fill out one of the required fields. In that case, the system will notify you when you try to publish. Click "Publish" and see what error message the system displays (red-marked message at the bottom of the window).

Becoming an approved organizer

It varies somewhat depending on who your moderator is. If you signed up under an organizer already listed in the calendar, that organizer’s moderator must approve you. If you signed up a new organizer and created a user account in the process, a moderator from your municipality or the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia will need to approve you. This usually happens within a couple of days, but it might take longer over weekends or in the middle of summer. If you're not approved within a week or so, please contact portal(at)obotnia.fi for help.

Help creating an event

Our policy is to not register events for different organizers. The reason is that the organizer is responsible for all the information being correct. If the event is submitted by us, the organizer won’t be able to change any information if needed. It's also important that we have accurate contact details for the organizer, which isn’t possible unless the organizer enters the event using their own account. Therefore: Sign up for the events calendar if you haven’t already! If you run into problems, we’re happy to assist you.

My event was published by someone else

Sometimes, multiple parties might decide to add the same event. This could be the event organizer, the venue owner, the ticket seller (eg. Netticket), or even one of the performers. If you find an event in the calendar that you feel has been entered incorrectly, please contact the organizer directly to resolve the matter.

Login issues

If you've tried to log in multiple times without success, please wait 15 minutes and then try again. Double-check that Caps Lock isn't on. Also, try using a different web browser.

Changing organizer's contact information

When logged in, go to the dashboard and to “My profile”. There you can update the information for the organization you're submitting events for.

Organizer contact info shouldn't appear in an event

The calendar automatically publishes the contact information of the organizing body. If you want to change or remove the contact information, go to the "Organizers" section in the dashboard and make your changes there.

RSS feed

At the bottom of the event calendar's homepage, there's an RSS link. Using that feature, you can import events – for example, by municipality or category – as an RSS feed to your organization’s website.

Personal data and data protection

The personal data register of the Ostrobothnia Events Calendar only contains the personal information you provided when registering as a user. We require your name and email address (username) because the event organizer is responsible for the event information. You may also enter your phone number if you wish. You can change or delete your personal data at any time. We do not share your data with third parties. Read more in our privacy policy (in Swedish / in Finnish, pdf).
