Into the Forest

The art project Till skogs–Mennään metsään–Into the Forest is a cross-border collaborative project across the Kvarken. It has resulted in, among other things, a publication and two exhibitions: one at Konsthall Norra Kvarken in Järnäsklubb (4.7–9.8.2026) and one at the Tempus exhibition hall in Jakobstad (20.8–15.10.2026). Initiator and curator is Simon Gripenberg.

The project brings together artists with connections to the Kvarken region and – as the title suggests – it is about forests. This theme is illuminated from different perspectives, both scientifically and poetically. The expressions are many: painting, photography, sound, graphics, poetry, sculpture, performance, illustration, music, installation and embroidery. The participating artists are: Annika Bergvik-Forsander (FI), Ilar Gunilla Persson (SE), Jan Carleklev (SE), Joost Van Duppen (BE), Leif Strengell (FI), Li Taiga (FI), Mats Caldeborg (SE), Noora Kauppila (FI), Robert Back (FI), Roser Gabriel Pla (CT), Simon Gripenberg (FI) and Snöfrid Caldeborg (SE).

Some workshops are also planned in connection with the project. An event with lectures, Artist Talks, music and poetry will be held at Music Café After Eight on the 15th of October at 3–6 pm. The exhibition opens at Tempus with a vernissage on the 20th of August at 6–8 pm and it ends with a finissage on the 15th of October at 6–8 pm.
