Maria Wolfram’s works explore themes such as identity, otherness, fragility, emotions, and the exercise of power.
Maria Wolfram’s works explore themes such as identity, otherness, fragility, emotions, and the exercise of power. Wolfram’s practice is experimental, and she is passionate about working with a variety of materials. In her sculptures, paintings, and installations, she combines, among other things, oil and acrylic paints, ink, fabrics, and collage. Central to Wolfram’s works is the dynamic interplay of colors and surfaces, as well as layering. Her works are inspired by human encounters, art history, and various cultures.
Wolfram’s works have been exhibited on several continents, including across Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Her works are included in numerous collections, such as the Finnish National Gallery, the Åbo Akademi Foundation, and the collections of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.
This exhibition features recent paintings created by combining ink, acrylic, and oil paints on painting surfaces made from calligraphy paper and MDF board.
