Equally Stupid is an Icelandic–Finnish–American trio blending jazz and rock aesthetics with punk attitude, complex rhythms, and collective improvisation. Active since 2008, the band has developed a highly recognizable sound rooted in the nearly 20-year musical collaboration between Rögnvaldsson and Lyytinen.

With the addition of American drummer Sam Ospovat, the trio’s sound has gained new power and momentum, pushing their music toward even greater intensity and dynamic range. Equally Stupid has released two critically acclaimed albums, Exploding Head (2014) and Escape From the Unhappy Society (2017). Their new album Phantoms Among Us will be released in spring 2026.
