UTSMYCKAT Utsmyckat - Folk Art Painters in Ostrobothnia: Mårten Lassus Tottakai, tässä on käännös englanniksi:

Throughout the summer of 2025, several museums in Ostrobothnia will showcase works by their own local folk art painters. "Utsmyckat" (Embellished) is a collaboration where each museum's exhibition is unique!

The Oravais Historical Society highlights the folk art painter, church decorator, stone grinder, and district judge Mårten Lassus from Karvat. A versatile individual without equal, he has had a significant impact on folk art painting in the region, but has also done much to preserve knowledge about local history and folk tales.

Appropriately, you will find the exhibition in Bengtersgobbin's cottage at the Fänrik Stål Center, a building that Lassus himself had built.

Opening: Wednesday, June 25th at 6:00 PM.

Folk art painting expert Raul Pohjonen will give a lecture:
New research findings on folk art painting in the Vörå-Oravais region - Mårten Lassus and his school.

The exhibition is open Wednesday-Sunday, June 25th - August 3rd, 2025 (12 PM - 6 PM), at the same time as our summer café!
